What are School PE Uniforms?

School uniforms are nothing new. Catholic schools have been requiring that students wear uniforms for years. These days, more and more public schools are also requiring that students wear uniforms in an attempt to unify and equalize the student body. Many schools are also instituting school PE uniforms.

Physical Education Classes

PE is an abbreviation for physical education. Physical education classes are known to many simply as gym class. Gym class provides students with the opportunity to learn about their bodies, exercise and run off some excess energy during the school day. School PE uniforms are the clothing that students are required to wear in order to participate in physical education classes. PE uniforms are becoming increasingly common at both public and private schools.

PE Uniform Types

PE uniforms are worn during physical activity, so they must be designed with the student's comfort in mind. Commonly, a school PE uniform consists of a lightweight cotton t-shirt and comfortable cotton shorts with an elastic waistband. Some schools also require that the students wear uniform socks and sneakers in order to participate in PE class. In cooler weather, it is not uncommon for students to wear uniformed sweatshirts, sweatpants or nylon workout pants. Most often, these uniforms are designed in the school's colors.

Personalizing School PE Uniforms

Many schools are looking for ways to make their PE uniforms stand out. There are many options available today when it comes to personalizing a school's PE uniforms. Some schools are opting to have their school name stitched into the shorts or pants. Others have their school mascot screen-printed onto the back or breast of the student's t-shirt. Many companies offer unique ways for schools to personalize their PE uniforms to suit their needs.
