What are the Different Types of Lawyers?

The field of law has lots of career paths that one can take. There are many kinds of lawyers that deal with different case types. Similar to doctors, lawyers specialize in certain areas of law. Some lawyers have several specialties.

Administrative Lawyers

Administrative lawyers handle the legal issues that occur in a city or county's justice system. Once you finish your law degree it is also recommended that you obtain a degree in political science in order to better grasp the political aspect of county, city or state laws.

Bankruptcy Lawyer

Bankruptcy lawyers deal with individuals with financial woes. For whatever reason, they are not able to pay back the loans or credit cards that they have previously established and need to file bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is basically a statement that says you no longer have the income required to pay back what you owe. A lawyer's job in this instance is to represent the individual against the creditors and prove that they indeed are unable to pay.

Divorce Lawyer

When couples wish to dissolve their marriage, they enlist the services of a divorce lawyer. Each lawyer will have to decide what the couple gets after the divorce and what assets need to be divided. If a prenuptial agreement was signed, this makes the lawyers job a little easier in that aspect. Divorce law is not an easy field of law to get into. It takes years of sitting in on cases and working with peers before being able to handle your own divorce proceedings case.
