What is Interior Design?
Interior design is the act of decorating or remodeling an interior space. Interior designers use their skills and expertise to decorate windows, walls, doors, furniture, flooring and other items inside a location. The goal for interior design is to make a space look attractive, comfortable and pleasing to the person that wants the interior designing done.
Most people come up with their own interior design. Many people enjoy getting their designing ideas from magazines, television shows and other interior decorators. Interior design has become very popular on many television stations. Some people who do not consider themselves good at decorating, may hire professionals to do the work. Most interior designers choose to work in one specialty area, this allows them to focus and excel in one area. You may find an interior designer that only works in perfecting homes, while another interior designer may work to design commercial buildings such as hospital rooms or business offices.
Many interior designers work on a contract basis. Some professional businesses keep interior designers on their full-time staff. Working as an independent designer is a great way to make money. As an independent contractor, you can take on small clients and working on many different types of projects. As an interior designer you can open up your own business and work solely for yourself or with a small staff you’ve hired.
Interior design earnings can vary depending upon their experience and the type of work they do. If an interior designer gets a very good reputation they have a good chance of making a high income. For residential projects, self-employed interior designers usually earn a per-hour fee plus a percentage.
