What is Spotify?
Spotify is a cloud based digital music service that is changing the way we listen to music. Spotify, founded in Sweden is a free international online music streaming service that has made its way to the United States. Spotify made its US debut on July 14, 2011. There are now over 2 million premium subscribers world wide.
Spotify contains a collection or library that allows you to listen to any song, anytime you want. You have access to over 13 million tracks. It is available for PC, Mac, home audio systems and your cell phone. Never again will you be without your favorite music. The music plays live so you don’t have to wait for downloads and take up space on your hard drive. You can search music by song title, artist, album, genre, record label and more. Select your song and hit play, everything is streamed to your device with little buffering.
Spotify allows advertisements which allow you free access and paid subscriptions with no ads. It is available in three forms. The free form plays 30 second advertisements every 20 minutes, but always between songs, never interrupting the songs. There is an advertisement-free day pass that available for 24 hours. The premium account is a monthly subscription which is cancellable at any time. The premium has no advertisements and also has concert ticket giveaways and some subscription-only tracks or pre-release songs and albums.
Spotify wants to make it absolutely clear that is completely legal. Music available on Spotify has been approved by record companies and artists are compensated for their work.
