What to Look For in a Wedding Venue

It is critical to find the perfect wedding venue so that your wedding day is the best day of your life. The site and the location of the venue are the key components of making the day memorable. Most of the best wedding venues are booked at least a year in advance. When planning your wedding, it is important to know what to look for when deciding on a wedding venue.

  • Dates available - Check whether the venue is available on the date that you want to have your ceremony.  If you are flexible and able to change your wedding date, the venue may be available or another date may be less expensive than the date you have planned.

  • First impressions - Consider how attentive the venue staff is to your needs and that they answer all of your questions with interest. That should be an indication of how they will treat you when they are hired for your wedding venue.

  • Guest capacity - Determine the number of guests that you are expecting and decide whether the venue will be large enough for your wedding guests or if the venue is small enough for a small wedding and still feel comfortable, not cramped.

  • Price - Get estimates for various packages that are offered by each venue. Find out what the deposit will be and what the cancellation terms are. Compare what is included in the package deals and what will be the final payment.

  • Accommodation for guests - Negotiate to find available rooms for your guests at a discounted price, if not find other nearby hotels that give your guests discounted rates.

  • Location of ceremony - Make sure that the location has sufficient space for everything that you require. Find out if there will be a contingency plan if you are planning an outdoor wedding in the garden of the venue in case of rain.

  • Reception and evening party - Check to see if it is possible to have the reception and ceremony at the same venue and if the venue is open for a late reception. Also, check if they have a dance floor available. Compare the different packages that are offered.
