Where to Build a RC Model Workshop

Making work space for your RC car hobby to repair, build and maintain your toys depends on where you are living. Many hobbyists are working out of their bedroom, dorm or a small apartment. Considering the importance of tool and parts organization, work space can be an issue for those working with small spaces.

Setting up your workshop for your RC models can be done wherever you are. Utilize a flat area where you can place the project in front of you and have your tools, parts and accessories within easy reach. The kitchen table, floor of your room or desk in your dorm will suffice.

Keeping your tools and supplies organized is the key to setting up an RC model workshop. Workshops require organization of supplies, tools, and parts. When creating a workshop purchase a toolbox with compartmentalized boxes, such as a fisherman's tackle box or mechanic's toolbox. Hobby and craft stores also carry compartmentalized boxes to organize screws, washers, wires, solder, soldering iron and other small but necessary parts and tools for your RC aircraft. Label the boxes to facilitate easy location of parts and small tools. You will then be able to store everything in a compact area, which will simplify the clean-up process.

Replacement parts, such as tires, wings, ailerons and bodies will be larger than the assembly components, so choose suitable containers such as plastic storage containers to keep models that you are repairing. Use a separate box for each model; different models use different parts, so by placing the model with its parts you can prevent confusion and lost parts.
