Why do we hold onto old company CPU's and Laptops?
Data security is of concern to us all, and we cannot bare to think that someone else will mishandle, misuse, or sell our vital information. Yet, we give our vital information to vendors, manufacturers, and creditors daily. So why should we think differently about giving our computers and laptops to a recycler? When you think of recyclers we think of the man on the street, that passes by asking you if you have any metal to give from your garage. Unfortunately, this is not the way our professional services work in the electronics recycling industry. We are held to strict standards. with guarded storage areas, camera systems, locking containers, degausing, demagnetizing, or grinding systems, IT technicians and sometimes even paid guards. When CPU/Laptop Systems are contracted for disposal the driver takes an inventory and both parties sign a release of those cpu's/laptops. This release should have a tentative date as to when the job will be complete. They are taken into warehousing and all identifying information of the company where they are obtained from are stripped from the outside of the systems, they are shrink wrapped and marked for which type of disposal the company has designated and then locked up appropriately until the job is started. The job can be designated to be videotaped for an added fee. Once the job is complete the company or individual is sent a Certificate of Destruction and Video if designated. This provides security to them that there information is safe and Recycling company is released of liability of storage of the information. Did you know that if the vital information on just 1 system was leaked into the market the recycler would be liable for $100,000 worth of damages. At Calrecycler, Inc.every computer is digitally wiped. If your company is in need of further reassurance to your data destruction due to government contracts, high security information, or proprietary information we use a pin hole destruction method and we can provide a data destruction guarantee and certification releasing you from all liability. However, if you are not concerned about your data and wish to make a huge impact on the community. Donate your CPU/Laptops and we will wipe them clean and put them back out into the community for the underprivileged, k-12 students, non-profit organizations, the handicapped, and really anyone else that give us a good reason why they need one.
