I sued them and won
I successfully SUED the owner of this property management company. He proved to be even more cavalier with the law than with his real estate contracts when he decided not to even show up to our court date. I have filed a writ of execution against him because he refused ...to pay me (yes, post judgement). It is all on Public Record in the Gallatin County Justice Court. Case No. SM-2015-0000065- Tenants. Its a no brainer. Just avoid this company at all costs. To Homeowners: Why would you want to put your name and reputation in with this company? Sounds like a great way to get yourself sued while having to pay them a commission on top of it!
Eh, Marginal and Cheap
I give this rental company two stars. They are alternately nice and rude. They employ very unprofessional maintenance staff, so unprofessional that they have caused damage on several occassions, including flooding our basement and not replacing the soaked carpet. Esp...ecially vexing are the lawn fellows. They have no idea how to properly maintain a lawn. They cut the grass so low all summer that it dies no matter how much rain or watering the grass receives. They never tend the bushes and they never edge. Of course, these guys are related to staff members at MA, so that explains why they never address the problems no matter how much we complain. MA definitely does not take pride in the appearance of their rental properties. We have patching paint on our siding, dead bushes, etc., but they never do anything to make the area more visually pleasing. We have made some improvements, but are not willing to spend our own money fixing their property.
Avoid at all costs
This company does not even deserve 1 star. They were complete rude and unreasonable with my son. When he was checking out they came up with a list of ridiculous demands, which we went back and fixed (including supplying batteries for smoke detectors that did not have... them when he moved in). They apparently did not go back and check, as they charged us for everything that was fixed (including the brand new batteries). I am a landlord myself and would never consider treating my tenants like they treated my son.
Very Professional Company
It troubles me that so many of the negative reviews are written by anonymous reviewers. I have experienced the level of service from Management Associates first-hand and have been pleased with thier level of professionalism and service. They have gone out of their way t...o accomodate unusual requests. Anyone who can read and understand contracts would have no problem with this company. People renting for the first time who are not familiar with the process or rules could understandably be shocked that they are not treated as their parents would treat them, ie like children.
If you like to be screwed over, rent from them.
if you like to be screwed over you really should rent from Management Associates. These people are really the lowest of the low of any rental company that i have ever had to deal with. They treated my boyfriend and I with compete disrepect and treated us like we were ...ignorant bums. Every time we try to call them to help resolve issues that we have with the rental, they always told us that they didnt have time to deal with us and we had a huge issue with mold in our sliding door and it made it a healh issue for my boyfriend with his asthma and they told us when we brought it up that 'it wasnt vital for living and wasnt a hazard to our health.' Who are they to say that, are they a doctor! no i think not, they are just a scumbags trying to take your money. Also they didnt clean the apartment before we moved in and when we asked them why they said that we had verbally opted out of the cleaning servce which never happened. Dont rent from them if you love America! they are evil.
Poor Service
Management Associates seems to not care about their properties at all; at least that is the idea I got. My roommates and I have called more than 20 times requesting some regular maintenance on the house we rent, but have yet to receive a call back. The property we rent ...(208 W. Grant) is admittedly pretty beat up because I'm pretty sure it was a party house for many years, but during my stay here we've taken better care of this house than I'm sure its had in years. We've even gone so far as offer our services for labor as long as they pay for materials, yet still no answer. I truly think they don't care about their properties because our basement has flooded two weeks in a row due to what the Roto-Rooter technician described as "poor regular maintenance". Our large floor drain was clogged and backing up, which apparently happens from brush or something. Anyways the Roto-Rooter guy said it was M.A. 's problem, yet so far they have refused to pay for furniture ruined by water damage.
