By reggie k at Yahoo! Local August 18, 2006Our food had bugs in it. When I asked the hostess to speak to a manager, we were presented with the owner. I think her name was Sally. She had short-cropped, brassy-colored, spiky hair. She looked me straight in the eyes and told me that, "those aren't bugs...they're gnats!" She followed that comment up with, "well, I understand if you don't want to finish your meal.....you don't have to pay for what you've eaten so far." She then took away our plates and left us sitting there dumbfounded. What an arrogant witch!

It's one of the shore's best kept secrets !!!
Having eaten there dozens of times over the past decade, we've always had delicious meals there no matter what we've ordered. The service is also outstanding, and the prices are very reasonable. Suggest ordering the homemade fresh pasta as a side dish, and to make rerservations. A great place to dine !!!

Mildred's is exceptional!!!!! The service staff is as well ... friendly, knowledgeable and just plain down to earth and aiming to please. They make you feel as if you are enjoying a meal in their home. The seafood is excellent as is their Italian food. The exterior building is quite deceiving as to what awaits you inside!!!!!!!! We absolutely recommend Mildred's ... it has become a #1 favorite of ours.

I was overcharged by a great deal, food was good but at the price I was charged it was not that good. make sure that you ck. your bill.

I had mussels for the first time here. The taste was better than I expected
I finally had the prime rib. Perfect.
The prime rib covered my entire plate. I would recommend Mildres'ss to anyone.

I have been eating at Midlreds for 46 years. I remember Mildred and Charile well. A couple of the wait staff have been there just as long. The food is still good and home grown Italian. Andy and Sally are keeping the tradition going! We all appreciate that as there is nothing like summers at the Jersey shore and eating at Midlreds. Many, many happy memories.

Um, Mary, I agree with you the food is fantastic and the portions are large. But Mildreds Strathmere Restaurant is in Cape May County, not Ocean County.

I've been eating at Milldreds for over ten years. The food is fantastic. The portions are big and the dessert tray is amazing. I recommend this to anyone in Ocean County!
