5 Hand Mudras to Energize Your Yoga Practice

The ancient practice of yoga originated in India over 5,000 years ago, and has since become a popular form of exercise and self-care all over the world. Whether you’re practicing to focus your mind or trying to relax your body, there are several hand mudras (hand gestures) that you can do throughout your yoga practice to energize and balance yourself from the inside out. These mudras are easy to learn, so you can incorporate them into any style of yoga! 1) Chin Mudra While Chin mudra involves placing your hand under your chin, it’s not about getting a crick in your neck. Instead, Chin mudra is thought to awaken energy along with stimulating mental awareness. To practice Chin mudra at home or at yoga class, simply touch your thumb and index finger on either side of your chin or place one finger under your chin and rest another hand on top of it. There are several variations of Chin mudra, but they all emphasize opening up blocked energy channels along with stimulating mental clarity. The best part? No matter what kind of day you’re having, even doing Chin mudra for a few minutes can help you start fresh. You might want to try doing 20 minutes of meditation at least once a day. Not only will it help you relax, but it can also help reduce stress, improve sleep quality and increase relaxation throughout your body—which are all essential for weight loss success! And as an added bonus? Meditation can also make you more aware of how much (or little) you move each day, which is essential for losing weight quickly and safely. Tracking how many steps you take each day is one simple way of getting in tune with your movements—and maybe even motivating yourself to move more! 3) Amrita There are a variety of mudras that practitioners perform during yoga asanas, or poses. The hand mudra known as Amrita may be performed during several poses including Warrior II, Pyramid Pose and Headstand. This simpleyoga mudrainvolves interlacing your fingers and bringing them to your heart center. It's said that by performing Amritasana before you begin your yoga practice, you can create harmony between body and mind for a more fulfilling experience. Practicing Amritasana also helps improve overall flexibility since it stretches out muscles in both hands and wrists while also energizing one's breath through pranayama. 4) Shakti In Hindu mythology, Shakti is a primordial goddess and one of two consorts of Shiva. She is his feminine counterpart and represents his dynamic nature because she creates in tandem with him. This mudra, which was originally named after Shiva’s first wife, Parvati, is meant to awaken your body's energy by creating balance between what you feel emotionally and what you physically sense. Physically, it opens up your chest and helps alleviate heartburn or indigestion; emotionally, it can be used to effectively deal with emotional trauma or stress. 5) Bhoomi Pronounced BOOM-ee, Bhoomi is a Sanskrit word that translates to Earth. You might think that makes sense, right? However, in yogic terms bhoomi also refers to our daily experiences on Earth. In other words, everything you experience in your day-to-day life—the good and bad, pleasure and pain—is earth. It all comes from Earth (or from within yourself) and it all returns back to Earth when you die. A mudra for experiencing life fully is thus a great thing to do during your yoga practice! It will help bring awareness not only of yourself but also of those around you.

Yoga poses to increase height

Yoga can help improve your health in many ways, including height! Many people have heard that regular yoga practice can help increase their height over time, but this may come as a surprise to others who don’t realize it’s true. This guide will take you through the top three yoga poses that you can use to increase your height, as well as tips on how to maximize the benefits of these poses. But don’t worry – even if you’re not looking to increase your height, these poses are great for health benefits such as strength, flexibility, diabetesand stress relief! Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle Pose) The Baddha Konasana, or Bound Angle Pose, is one of those seemingly innocuous yoga positions that’s actually a pretty big deal. The Baddha Konasana is often considered by advanced yogis as a sort of missing link between sitting and standing poses. It stretches your hips, hamstrings, glutes and quads, while also working your abdominal muscles and helping improve circulation throughout your body. There’s no doubt about it—this little pose packs some powerful benefits for every part of your body! The Bound Angle Pose can be modified in several different ways based on personal preference and ability. Check out a few of these modified versions below Trikonasana (Triangle Pose) Trikonasana is one of those exercises that feels like it’s working but it may actually be increasing your height. Trikonasana stretches out your side body and tones your core muscles, which helps improve posture and keep you standing up straight. It also improves strength in lower-body muscles, making them stronger and more flexible. By stretching out these muscle groups, you make room for your spine to lengthen without causing back pain. However, if you have a bad knee or ankle, sit down during Trikonasana; don’t stress on an injured joint for longer than necessary! Utthita Parsvakonasana (Extended Side Angle Pose) In addition to stretching your inner thighs, hips and core, Utthita Parsvakonasana (Extended Side Angle Pose) can help lengthen your spine. If you've never practiced yoga before, then start with a modified pose by keeping your back foot on the floor and bending both knees. Once you feel comfortable with that variation, go ahead and place your forefoot on top of your mat; that's how we'll begin when teaching yoga in studios across San Francisco. From there, relax your chest forward while letting both sides of your torso lengthen. Stay here for up to five breaths or adjust until you feel a deep stretch in your right side. Virabhadrasana 2 (Warrior 2 Pose) If you’re looking for ways to increase your height, standing against a wall and lifting your arms above you will help. The Intense Stretch Pose (called Uttanasana in Sanskrit) works by stretching out muscles, increasing their elasticity and making them grow over time. In order to practice it correctly, stand with your back against a wall so that it’s directly behind your shoulders. Bend one knee while keeping the other leg straight and press your back flat against the wall. Uttanasana (Intense Stretch Pose) This is one of my favorites. It really does make your feel taller instantly. The best part about it is that you don’t have to be flexible at all and in fact, I use it on my stiff days when I need an extra boost of energy and courage. All you have to do is get into position by standing with your feet together and then bend over, placing your hands on either side of your feet or as far down as you can go while keeping your back straight and arching out of your lower back. Hold for 15 seconds before slowly raising up while making sure that there’s no strain whatsoever in your back or neck area. If done right, it will definitely make you stand a little bit taller.
