PARTY PLANNING TIPS THAT MAKE "SENSE" (Series 4)

"SENSE" IBLE PARTY PLANNING (Series 4)xml version='1.0' encoding='%SOUP-ENCODING%' By Linda Pace- President The Life of the Party   Most people know some of the common elements you'd expect to see at a party- food, music, décor, lighting, flowers, and perhaps favors. What most people may NOT be aware of is:"WHAT IS IT ABOUT THESE ELEMENTS THAT MAKES THEM SO IMPORTANT TO THE SUCCESS OF A PARTY?The answer is how each of them relies on the presence of our senses (our sense of sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell) to create a memorable, unique, and everlasting experience for anyone lucky enough to be on the guest list. The strategy of attempting to reach an audience by engaging their senses is ever-present in the process of party and event planning.Using subliminal methods to communicate a message to your audience creates a heightened sense of awareness, which then evokes an emotional response. In an ongoing series, each of these "senses" will be explored in-depth.Sense of Touch- a) The words “luxurious”, “smooth”, “sticky”, or “painful” are some words that come to mind when describing the sensation of touch, but many times, the sense of touch is often paired with the sense of “feeling” (“delighted”, enthusiastic”, “nervous, or “uncomfortable”). Introducing tangible items that entice guests to touch and feel will further enhance the overall party-going experience- finger-foods served in a variety of shapes and sizes, plush seating areas for guests to relax in, giveaway items such as party hats, noisemakers, toys, etc., or carefully selected party favors given as a physical reminder of the fun they had during that special day.b) In terms of “feeling”, consider the importance of room temperature. A winter holiday party held indoors in a small house busting at the seams with guests can get very hot, very quickly. Although the host considers using the fireplace as an added element of ambiance, or selects a hot-catered buffet dinner with chafing dishes, they may think twice about how the room temperature can quickly and dramatically change the overall mood of the event. Generally speaking, an overheated guest is NOT a happy guest.Utilizing these concepts to "sense"ibly and effectively execute a perfectly-planned party will help you, the party planner, to address not only WHAT you're having at the party, and WHY you're having it, but HOW they can create the ideal environment for an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime party experience! Please check back regularly for updated entries on this topic. The Life of the PartyParty and Event Planning Consulting ServicesPhone: 516-443-2855Email: info@thelifeoftheparty.BIZWebsite:http://www.thelifeoftheparty.BIZThe Life of the Party- Why you choose to celebrate is your business.
