I had Randy build a 302 for my 66 mustang. After looking at several builders I chose Randy because he was knowledgeable, listened to what I wanted, he gave me some advise and the price was good. I have about 600 miles on the motor and absolutely love it. LOTS of power (... I got the 330hp/350tq package and added roller cam and lifters), and sounds AWESOME! I paid the extra for the Fast Track service, brought some friends and watched them fire it up on the machine. Before I discuss how I choose Phoenix Engine and talk about the quality of their work let me say that they are one very honest business. I called the company to discuss a rebuild for my 1986 MC SS. Larry was very willing to talk me through the process, components they... would use to rebuild my engine and an approximate cost. In fact I called several other companies and then called back, talked to Larry and asked additional questions. All were answered to my satisfaction so I choose Phoenix engine. The day I brought my engine I dropped off the engine and gave Larry a deposit. I told him I wanted to put down $500. I gave him the cash and left. After I left Phoenix Engine I made another stop to pick up parts and realized I was $200 short based on what I withdrew from the bank prior to dropping off my engine. I realized that I must have given Larry $700 instead of $500. I called and asked Larry if he still had my deposit. He did and in fact he said he paper-clipped it and hadn’t even counted it yet. When he did he immediately told me that I had given him $700 and not the $500 which was what my receipt noted. He assured me he would make the adjustment to my account and later that day he made the correction and sent me an updated receipt that evening. That act alone gave me confidence that I had chosen the right shop. Since then it has been a great experience. Randy and his team did a nice job of keeping me informed throughout the process and since I am local I even made several visits to check on progress. Randy made time to update me as to where my engine was in the process. When I picked up the engine he spent time walking me though the break-in procedures and made sure I was comfortable with his instructions. I even had a chance to walk through his facility. Having been a motor head for years and built a lot of cars I recently visited Phoenix Muscle car for the first time to purchase a motor for my latest build a 63 pro street nova. After touring their facility I was very impressed with their operation. They use quality pa...rts and these aren't "thrown" together assembly line style engines. When my engine was complete they called me so I could see it run in on their "fast track" engine stand. I was very impressed with it and would recommend them to any for their next engine build. I purchased a 350cid turnkey with fast track. they shipped it all the way to minnesota. i removed it from the crate and installed it. came with everything i needed and was a breeze to install. the paperwork had all the information i needed to make sure it was set up the...y way they dyno'd it. i hooked up the starter, the ignition and the fuel lines and she started right up. no leaks, no problems what so ever. It has now been a year and a half and i have had zero issues. more importantly, the lope this engine has, makes my wife moist every time we start it up I will definitely do business with them again in the near future for my next project....
