We saw Everything!

I have read through a fair amount of reviews and have been laughing at the ridiculous notions provided by others. We recently went to a presentation at SmarTravel and this is what happened:1. When you walk in a person at the front desk will make sure you qualify to sit... through the presentation. You will also fill out a vacation survey, which is used as informative material for the sales rep when you sit down with them (alleviating a million questions).2. You will sit through a presentation, which explains more about Travel Advantage Network (TAN), SmarTravel, and how they work together. Also, the presentation explains inflation costs for travel, purchasing vacations the wholesale way, and some of the places you can go to through TAN/SmarTravel.3. When the presentation is over, sales reps come in and call out the first or last names of the individuals they will be helping. We ended up with a middle-aged bald man named Michael.I will continue this in another review...

What do you want to know?

So I booked a trip to Gulf Shore Plantation in Alabama over Spring break through TAN (the company that owns smartravel) I also booked the free Bahamas cruise through Spirit Incentives (a completely separate company that handles the free cruise promo). Everything looks g...ood so far and both companies have been easy to deal with. I will report back on the accommodations in Alabama and the cruise in the Spring.

Look at it from this perspective part 10 - Think about this

After reading some of these other reviews, the people claiming this is a SCAM doesn't understand the meaning of the word. We have utilized the program, sat with a reputable salesperson, and went on the free cruise. The system works, and even though some individuals do...n't like the way the program is presented, TAN nor SmarTravel is a scam. We highly recommend it to anyone that wants to vacation.

Look at it from this perspective part 9 - Different sales people

There are different types of sales people. Some are truly trying to help while others just want to make a commission. Michael was trying to help us, but its understandable if others run into a bad apple. They are everywhere (Wal-Mart, HHGregg, Kohl's, Macy's, car dea...lerships, etc.). However, you probably won't see the salesperson again. Your main goal is deciding whether or not you want to vacation every year, even when unfortunate situations are taking place. Good luck!

Look at it from this perspective part 8 - About the Free Cruise

The free cruise has a $1,500 value attached to it. By law, companies cannot cover your port charges, taxes, and passports (if needed). Worst case scenario you pay $225 per person to take the cruise. It's very important to follow the instructions to the "T" or you wil...l have complications. However, that was our fault, not the company's. Also, keep in mind there are additional things to do on a cruise that do cost money. This is nothing new, so don't believe people whining about paying more on the cruise ship.

Look at it from this perspective part 7 - The Truth

We all have different needs. Some of us want to vacation every year. Unfortunately, most of us can't afford to stay in these types of places. Here is a bit of advice: the only way a company like this can help you is if you want to be helped. Keep an open mind about ...creating lifelong memories for your family. If it's not affordable, well they will tell you its not for everyone. However, thanks to our sales rep (Michael), we've taken a vacation with SmarTravel/TAN every year.
