This School is a Gem
Tall Oaks Classical School (K to 12) is more than a school. It is a community of families with a shared vision of educating future leaders who can think clearly, write and speak persuasively and honor God with their hearts and minds. The children excel at Tall Oaks not ...because they are the brightest of the bright, but because the education that is offered brings out the best in all of them, from the average kid to the most gifted. The classes are small (all 18 or under), the student body is diverse, the teachers are some of the most dedicated professionals I've ever known.\t\n\t\nTall Oaks uses a classical method of education. The students learn Latin, logic and rhetoric. They read ancient and contemporary classics. They learn to reason well and think critically. Everything is taught from a biblical world view. The children are not sheltered from unbelief, but rather, they are taught, at appropriate ages, to deal critically with arguments against the faith so they are prepared to participate in the marketplace of ideas.\t\n\t\nThe students from Tall Oaks do well on their SATs and have won debate competitions and many essay contests. Graduates often report that they test out of freshman English courses and several have served as peer writing coaches in college. \t\n\t\nAll that being said, what I love best about Tall Oaks is the Christian culture. The kids are respectful and joyful. The role of parents is respected by the school. Discipline is handled in a way that exalts the grace of God. \t\n\t\nThe school has open houses almost every month, and if you come during school hours you can sit in on classes. Be sure to visit the high school classes even if your child is younger, so you can get a better idea of the "finished product." You'll be amazed at the level of discourse in the high school.
