1. How many miles can a vehicle be towed?
   

   When a tow company is called, can it be requested to where the vehicle should be towed? Is there a maximum amount of miles that a vehicle can be towed?

   It's true that hauls over 300 miles are usually more cost effective on a carrier truck - especially if the vehicle runs & drives. If the vehicle is inoperable, you can have it loaded & unloaded onto the carrier truck with a tow truck. If the vehicle is towed properly, the distance is not a factor (this is true of flatbed and wheel-lift towing). Legally. a USDOT number and FMC number are required if the vehicle (cargo) will cross state lines.

   Well they're going to want to know where to tow it to, otherwise I'm not sure they'd know what to do. There probably is a max mileage for local tow companies-what you think of as a tow truck. If you're talking about more than 50 miles or so, your getting into the range of an auto transport company (I listed on in the links section below).
   
   They don't "tow" the vehicle, but rather load it onto a truck for transport since they're designed to deal with longer distances. It sounds like this may be the type of thing you're after, depending on how far of a distance you're talking about. Might be worth a look anyway. I'm sure it would cost a fortune to get a two over 100 miles.

   I have towed cars over 1500 miles ....

   Towing companies are usually local and will not transport past the 300 mile limit. Anything more than that you can hire a car transport company who can transport nationwide and door to door.
