About Organic Meat
There are many benefits to choosing organic meat over non-organic meat. Organic meat is only organic if the conditions, food and treatment of the animal follow a strict set of guidelines. All natural does not mean organic and many people confuse the two terms. The term all natural is misleading and not a predictor of the meat’s content.
What is Organic meat?
It is organic meat if it is free of growth hormones and other injected antibiotics. The animal has been grass fed and allowed to roam. By allowing the animal to live and grow at a normal pace and in a normal environment, you are not mutating the animal by speeding up growth. The farmers who produce organic meat generally run their farm in an eco-friendly way. Be sure a meat has met the USDA guidelines by looking for the green and white Certified USDA Organic seal. Organic meat also has a slightly different taste. Many say the test is better.
What is the difference?
There is a big different between chicken from a small farm and a grocery store. The chicken from the small farm is smaller; the chicken from the grocery store is larger. The chicken from the grocery was stuck in a building with thousands of other chickens, grew three times faster than normal and was unable to walk. The chicken on the small farm grew normally, was given no injections and walked freely. The small farm chicken is leaner, healthier and does not pass on harmful chemicals to the humans who consume it.
How it affects you
When you consume a regular, non-organic meat you are consuming more meat, more chemicals and your overall heath suffers. The organic meat ensures that your meat is leaner, free of chemicals and it lived a humane life. It is widely believed that the chemicals in mass-produced meat factories are having adverse effects on humans. Children are reaching puberty sooner. There is a rise in allergic reactions to a wide variety of foods. The consumption of organic meat helps the environment in many ways. The long-term benefits to both you and the earth are worth paying extra.
