Best Selling Music Artists of All Time

Are you trying to determine the best-selling music artists of all times? If so, you may be confused as each list you look at uses a different method of ranking the artists. One thing that you will notice though is that, in most cases, three names appear at the top of each list. These names are Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Michael Jackson. Very few will be surprised to see these artists at the top of any best-selling list.

Elvis Presley

Known as the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis recorded 77 albums over a 23 year period. Sixty-eight of these albums made it onto the Top Pop Albums chart compiled by Billboard. Most lists do agree that he has sold over one billion albums worldwide and these albums remain popular today. Some of Elvis's top singles include "Heartbreak Hotel" (1956), "All Shook Up" (1957), "Surrender" (1961), and "Suspicious Minds" (1969).

The Beatles

There is some disagreement as to how many albums this band has sold, but estimates range anywhere from 750 million to over one billion. What many do not realize is that this group was only together for eight years and recorded a total of 12 albums. Rolling Stone Magazine named The Beatles' top 5 songs as "A Day in the Life," "I Want to Hold Your Hand," "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Yesterday," and "In My Life."

Michael Jackson

Self dubbed the King of Pop, Mr. Jackson started out singing with his family in the Jackson Five. He then went on to have a very successful solo singer. Before his death, he released 11 albums and reached the top of the charts with a number of singles. Time Magazine named Jacko's top songs as "Beat It," "Man in the Mirror," "Billie Jean," "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough," and "We Are the World."
