Common Questions Aestheticians Ask Before Performing a Service

An aesthetician is a beauty school certified person that does facials, chemical peels, body waxing, and even deep pore cleaning. Each time you go in to have a treatment done, there are several questions that they may ask you before performing the service. These questions give them general information about your skin and the treatments that you have had done before.

  • What treatment you are looking to have done? This is a common question asked so that an aesthetician knows what they are going to be doing for you. Often times, they will also ask you when the last time you had the treatment that you want done performed.

  • What type of skin do you have?  Depending on the service you are having performed, dry skin or oily skin can make a huge difference in how the treatment is done. Deep cleansing may be needed before you can have a chemical peel, while a chemical peel on dry skin can severely damage your skin if it is not performed correctly.

  • How is your pain tolerance? This is an important question if you are having a chemical peel or body waxing done. If you have a very low pain tolerance while you are having body waxing done, flinching could make the aesthetician remove more hair than you want.

  • What type of skin care do you do?  Your daily skin care regimen can be important to the type of treatment you are wanting. If you aren't taking care of your skin by sleeping in your make up, never washing your face or eating things that make your skin oily, this could deter the treatment that you want, making it ineffective or needed more often.
