Electronic Banking Safety
Online hackers will always have a plan to break into your online bank account no matter how complicated you make your username or password. There are a few simple ways you can help protect your bank account from online hackers.
Logging Out
Always log out when you're done with your online session, even if it's on a personal computer. By clicking the log out button, you force yourself to enter your username and password again. You might not think this is important on a personal computer, but you never know who might be trying to hack into your account. Click the log out button and close the Internet browser if you use a public computer. This should leave no chance for your account to still be open for anyone to see.
Change Password
Change your password every couple months for extra protection. It might be hard to remember, but will keep your account a lot safer. Make sure your passwords are unique, but still easy for you to remember. Try using at least one number in the password to make it a little more unique and challenging to guess.
Account Numbers
Don't give out your account numbers for anyone looking to pay you with direct deposit unless you personally know them. Obviously you should be able to trust your employer as well. Ask for a check or cash from people you don't have a personal relationship with. Accidently giving away your account number to the wrong person can have monumental consequences.
