How to Be a Good Babysitter

There are many things that you can do to become a good babysitter, which will enable you to have an easier time taking care of children and to have return customers. Building up a strong client base will help to lead to other jobs once word is spread of your abilities.

How to Be a Good Babysitter.

• Take a course to become a certified babysitter. You will learn about childcare, what to do in an emergency and CPR.
  
• Pay attention the child or children. Remember you are there for them and do not talk on the phone or do homework.
  
• Only take on as many children as you can reasonably handle.
  
• Follow the parent's rules.
  
• Never be mean to the child.
  
• If the parents give you a schedule, keep the child on the schedule.
  
• Plan activities and participate in them.
  
• Be on time.
  
• Be calm when the child misbehaves, never curse or hit the child. Put the child in timeout if necessary.
  
• Know what your fee is going to be so the parents are clear on what you expect to be paid.
