How to Build Wood Model Boats
A model wood boat is a small boat replica that you can build and put on display in your home. The boats come in many different styles and sizes. You can follow a few steps and build a model wood boat for your collection.
Things You’ll Need:
- Wood
- Hot glue gun
- Boat pattern
- Paint
- Collect your materials and lay them out on your worktable. This will make it easier for you to complete each step and have the necessary components near.
- Decide on the style of the boat you are going to complete. You can make a replica of any boat you’d like.
- Use a pattern to trace the bottom of the boat design out on your wooden plant.
- Trace two sides for the boat and be sure the measure to fit the bottom of the boats design.
- Use your electric saw to cut the patterns from the wood.
- Sand the edges of the wood to get rid of any splinters and rough edges. Only sand them lightly so you don’t take away from the size of the wooden pieces.
- Hold one side of the boat up to the bottom and secure it with a hot glue gun. Use the glue on the inside of the boat so it doesn’t show on the outside.
- Secure the other side of the boat with the hot glue gun.
- Add any extra pieces to the design. This can include seats, a steering wheel or any extra of your choice.
- Paint the boat pieces using a small paintbrush.
- Put your model wooden boat on display for others to view.
