How to Build a Kirlian Photography Camera

Kirlian photography is a type of high voltage photography that began in the 1930s. In order to create this type of photographs you will place sheet of film over a discharge plate. The object you will use in the photograph is then place upon the film. Then high voltage is added to the discharge plate to create the exposure.

How to Build a Kirlian Photography Camera:

Step 1: Create a discharge plate. Begin with a four inch by six inch copper clad board. Affix the green wire from your transformer to the copper clad board by using a soldering iron. Attach your copper clad board to a piece of wooden board to secure it.

Step 2: Place a sheet of plastic over the copper clad board. Tape this sheet to the copper clad board and begin attaching the rest of your circuit. Connect your batteries between both sides of your switch.

Step 3: Connect the center of the switch to one enamel wire that leads to the transformer. The other enamel wire is connected to the capacitors. Affix a wire leading from the capacitors to the transformer.

Step 4: Remove the sheet of plastic from the discharge plate. Hold an exposed end of the green wire about a quarter inch from the end of the discharge plate. This will activate the switch.

Step 5: Coat all exposed wires with plastic spray. This will prevent electrical shocks and prevent injury.
