How to Build a Lattice Fence

A lattice fence will give you more privacy in the open areas of your yard. This type of fence is appealing with a formal and classical look. If the fence has smaller squares, you will have more privacy. This article will teach you how to build a lattice fence.

How to Build a Lattice Fence

  1. Determine where you would like to build the lattice fence. Take measurements of the area and take them with you when you visit the supply store.

  2. You can choose from different materials for the lattice fence such as cedar, birch, and redwood.

  3. Cut the wood slats according to the measurements you took in Step 1.

  4. Create right angles, which create diagonals. Screw the wood slats together with a screw gun. You can use wood glue instead of the screws.

  5. If you want paint on the fence, you must paint it at this point. Use a water-based paint and a sealer.

  6. The outer frame of the lattice fence will be built by placing the lattice into the inner part of the frame. Place the vertical side of the frame into the ground when the holes are dug.

  7. Dig holes for the posts. The holes should be deep enough for the concrete and to keep the posts balanced.

  8. Put the lattice fence into place and pour the concrete into the hole. Allow the concrete to harden overnight.
