How to Build an Outside Barbecue Pit
Making an outdoor barbecue pit is easy and quick to do. You don't need fancy materials or expensive tools to create your own homemade barbecue pit. You simple need a few, affordable materials and a little time to create the pit. You'll have great tasting barbecue in no time in your personal barbecue pit before you know it!
Things you'll need:
- Shovel
- Cement blocks (or bricks)
- Wood
- Lighter
- Barbeque grate
- 2 Bricks (or heavy rocks)
- Select a spot in your yard for an outside barbecue pit. Make sure there are no trees, bushes, buildings, or other objects that could easily catch fire nearby. Also, do not put the barbecue pit near an area where children or pets play. An open area, away from objects, and out of the way of general foot traffic is best.
- Dig a hole using the shovel a foot deep. The hole should be as wide as your barbeque grate.
- Place the cement blocks around the hole. You can also use bricks. The cement blocks or bricks should surround the entire barbeque pit and be at least a foot high.
- Place grilling wood or other choice burning method into the barbecue pit.
- Light the grilling wood on fire using a lighter or other choice lighting source.
- Cover the hole and grilling wood with the grilling grate by placing the grate over the hole, setting it on top of the cement blocks or bricks.
- Set a couple bricks on either side of the grilling grate to hold it in place while you grill. You can also use heavy rocks.
- Your outside barbeque pit is now complete and ready to grill your favorite barbecue foods!
