How to Buy Colorful Print T-Shirts

Buying the perfect piece of clothing can be a difficult chore whether you are considering designer jeans, cocktail dresses, or even colorful print t-shirts.  Several factors must be considered including correct fit, original depth of color, colorfastness, and comfort of wear.

There are all kinds of colorful print t-shirts available for purchase.  Most are made of cotton.  Some are burnout style, some have a vintage look, others also contain graphics and still more contain a multitude of colors tie-dye style.  Other differences between shirts include fit & sizing and quality & brightness of dye.

• Consider the type of fabric you are looking for. Different types of fabric fit your body differently such as cotton is loose and spandex is form fitting.  Your personal style, comfort, and common activities will affect the fabric you are most comfortable in. Consider if you will be doing activities where breathability is important.


• Consider the ease of cleaning. For example, items that can be machine-washed are easier to care for.


• Determine which colors look best with your skin tone. For example, a fair skin tone may look washed out with dark colored shirts.


• Evaluating clothing in local stores. Check for the current brightness so you can choose the degree of intensity that you want.  A test to do in store to check for colorfastness is to moisten part of the fabric and then rub with a cotton ball.  If color comes off then you will have trouble keeping the pigment bright, if not then it should be colorfast.  To keep help keep deep pigment remember to wash in cold water always.
