How to Call Voicemail

If you are unable to accept a phone call, having voicemail service makes it easy for someone to leave you a message that you can retrieve later. A voicemail system differs from an answering machine in that you do not need additional equipment to receive your messages.  If you are unclear on how to use voice mail, use this guide to learn how. 

1. Turn your home phone on. After you turn it on, dial the phone number.


2. Press the button to listen to the recorded message. 


3. Input the voicemail password and then listen to your voicemail box prompt. The prompts will tell you which button function you need to press to hear your voicemail message.


4. Follow the voice message prompt, and press the prompt indicated to hear your voice mail message. After the message completes, you will hear other options such as saving your message or deleting your message.


5. Disconnect your voicemail either by hanging up or pressing the end button. 

Phone Away From Home

1. Listen to voicemail message using another phone. Check to see if the phone needs to be turned on. If so, turn on the phone. 


2. Enter your phone number and wait for the phone to go into the voicemail box system.


3. Listen for the voice mail notification message and then press the pound key symbol (#). Make sure you do this before the message ends or else you will to have to disconnect and start the dialing process again.


4. Wait to hear the prompt to input your voicemail password and enter the password as directed by the machine. Follow the instructions given to check your voice mail messages.


5. Listen to your messages in the voice mail box. Follow the machine instructions given after the message ends for either saving or deleting the message. If you want to hear your other messages, continue to follow the prompts. However, if you are finished, press the end or talk button to end the call.
