How to Cancel a Television Guide Subscription

Television Guides allow readers to know when their favorite shows will be aired and to read information about the shows and the actors that star in them. When you no longer wish to receive the TV guide magazine, you will need to cancel your subscription to avoid being billed and receiving issues in the mail.

  1. Locate your latest bills or the information you received when you first signed up for your Television Guide subscription. You will need to locate the account number that is located on these documents.

  2. Contact the Television Guide customer service hotline at 1-800-866-1400. Inform the customer service representative that you would like to cancel your subscription. She will ask for your name and account number or address.

  3. Allow the customer service representative to bring up your account. She will likely try to talk you into keeping your subscription. She may offer you several deals or special pricing. If you are sure you want to cancel, turn down the offers.

  4. Send in a "Cancellation" notice. Many people become Television Guide subscribers when they do not cancel their subscription after receiving a free trial or free issues. Keep your cancellation notice in a safe place, and send it in when you no longer wish to receive issues of TV Guide.

  5. Avoid renewing your subscription. If you have paid for your subscription in advance, wait until the subscription is up. You will receive a renewal form in the mail. If it has a cancellation option, check it and send it back in. Or, do not send in the renewal form, and your subscription will stop automatically.
