How to Change Your Truck's Pedals Using a Pedal Kit

Over time, your truck pedals can show wear. Maybe the rubber pads have worn down, showing the metal on the pedal. Pedals on your truck can also be replaced if you want different pedals. Many people like to put sportier, narrow pedals in their trucks. You can do this yourself with a pedal kit. Here’s how.

  1. Purchase a pedal kit at an automobile supply center. Reputable automobile supply companies in your area can be found by searching the communities of MerchantCircle.

  2. Pedal kits may vary by brand. Be sure to read the instructions that come with the pedal kit.

  3. Remove the rubber pads from the old pedals.

  4. Using a screwdriver, detach the pedals from the holding bars. Be sure to remove all of the pedals you want to replace. You will have a gas pedal, a brake pedal and possibly a shifting pedal.

  5. Remove the contents of the kit.

  6. Find the pedals and attached them to the holding bar. Be sure to put the correct pedal on each bar.

  7. Secure the pedals with additional adhesive substance that may come with the pedal kit.

  8. If the new pedals have a rubber pad, simply slip the pad over the pedals.
