How to Clean a Water Dispenser
People choose to have a water dispenser in their home instead of using tap water because the water tastes much better. Many people with health issues find it much better also. The dispenser must be cleaned about every five months to keep it operating efficiently.
How to Clean a Water Dispenser
Materials Needed
- 1 gallon water bottle
- Tap water
- Bleach
- Scrub brush
- Cloth
- Remove the plug from the socket. Allow the water dispenser to sit for 20 minutes. You want to avoid getting electrocuted when working with the water.
- Take the bottle from the water dispenser and place it to the side for now. Locate the cold water tab and press it to drain all of the water out of the dispenser.
- Fill a 1-gallon bottle with water from the tap. Pour the water into the reservoir on the water dispenser. Add 1 teaspoon of bleach to the reservoir also.
- Take a scrub brush to clean the inside of the water dispenser reservoir. Clean all sides of the reservoir completely. Allow the bleach mixture to sit in the reservoir for 15 minutes. Drain the liquid from the reservoir by pressing the cold water tab on the dispenser.
- Take a clean cloth and wipe the reservoir until it is completely dry. Fill the 1-gallon jut with water from the tap once again. Pour the water into the dispenser and drain the water with the cold water tab. This will get rid of the bleach inside the reservoir. Continue to add water and drain the reservoir at least four more times to make sure the bleach is removed.
- Put a new bottle on the water dispenser and make sure it is secure. Plug the water dispenser cord back into the socket.
