How to Combine Ice Cream Flavors

Combining ice cream flavors is a great way to discover new ones. It can give your taste buds a savory experience. Making new flavors can also be a great way to engage your family with a fun activity that everyone can enjoy.

  • Gather your ingredients and begin taste-tasting. On your next trip to the grocery store look for ingredients to add to your flavored ice cream. These can include candy pieces, fruits and nuts. Begin mixing them with various flavors until you find a combo that pleases the palate. Be sure to notate the flavors that work well and the ones that do not so as not to repeat unsavory flavors.

  • Combine contrasting flavors. Try mixing a sweet tasting ice cream with a bitter flavored one. For example, take two scoops of strawberry ice cream and then take two scoops of lemon ice cream and mix them into one bowl.

  • Search for ice cream recipes. Go to your local library and pick out some dessert recipe books. Look for all the ice cream flavors listed in the various recipes. You will most likely find flavors that you normally would not think of. Create a list of ice cream flavors that you would like to try.

  • Be creative and enjoy. The best part of mixing different kinds of flavors is to create something interesting and new. You will have a wonderful time trying new things that you would not have thought of before. Take the time to enjoy the savory flavors that you come up with and share it with your family.

  • Incorporate seasonal flavors. During the holidays there will be certain flavors that are not available year round. For example, pumpkin and peppermint ice cream are typically only available during their respective holidays so that is the perfect time to mix one of them with a traditional flavor.
