How to Cover a Hunter Douglas Window

Hunter Douglas is a leading manufacturer of windows as well as window treatments and products. Purchasing windows from a manufacturer like Hunter Douglas can have its advantages because of the availability of related window treatments made to your window’s specifications. One of these treatments are window covers that can help shield the house from the sun, as well as add some extra security.

  1. Go to the official Hunter Douglas website and find out information on the window cover options available to you. Then purchase the window cover that is right for you. If it is the wireless wall-mounted cover, the other materials needed are the wall-mounted switch, a screwdriver, six two-inch screws that are two inches in length, tape measure, two AA batteries and a drill.

  2. Drill a hole that is about 1 inch deep in each upper corner of the window. Place one of the two-inch screws in each of the holes as far as they would go and make sure that they are securely locked in place; use a screwdriver if necessary to get the screws tightly into the holes. Please note that the screws should still be halfway out of the wall.

  3. Take the top rail of the window cover and align it over the two screws in the corner of the window. There should be holes in the window cover that will fit properly over the screws.

  4. Find a spot next to the window cover to install the wall mount for the wireless switch. Use the tape measure to get the proper measurements for mounting the switch. Drill four holes in the wall once the measurements are marked.

  5. Mount the wall mount over the drilled holes and place four two-inch screws into the holes. Using a screwdriver securely screw each of the screws into the drilled holes.

  6. Take two AA batteries and place them in the back of the wireless switch, then slide the switch into place over the wall mount. Test the window treatment to make sure that the window cover and the wireless switch are working correctly.
