How to Create a Landscape Design Plan
A proper landscape design is essential, as it allows the landscaping project to be visualized on paper. It is important to understand what is required for the project in order to draft a practical and viable landscaping design. By having a clear plan envisioned the landscape designer will be able to design the component's layout.
1. Assess the area in which the plan is to be implemented. This is an important step with any landscape design plan.
2. Determine if there are any physical characteristics already in existence on the land, which would be viable to the landscape plan. Consider the lay of the land, its slope, soil type, elevation and any other significant characteristics as well as climatic conditions, which could impact the plan.
3. Draft the landscape plan. This should be completed following the preliminary land review.
Personal preference will play a role in the potential design. Study all the themes and styles that are of interest and select the ones you want to incorporate into the landscape design plan. The area to be planned can be divided into the planted areas, paths, features and open space. Each of your selected themes and styles can be used in each of these areas.
4. Determine any special components needed for your design plan's requirements for implementation. Insert any special requirements on your design plan drawing. If necessary use software to help with the visualization of your plan once it is completed. Print out the results. Each step in landscape design is important.
5. Prepare a budget and materials list for the items you will be purchasing. This should be done once you finalized your plan for the project.
6. Evaluate the time frame required to complete the project. This should include the design phase as well as the building phase until the final project is completed. If the project is overwhelming consider hiring some help to assist you in completing the project.
