How to Design an Embroidery Shop
Designing an embroidery shop can be a very pleasant experience. However, there are some key things that you must do and some important decisions that you must make before you hold your grand opening. Only if you do these things can you guarantee your business’ success.
- Determine how much usable square footage your location has.
- Create a blueprint o graph paper to use as a visual tool for setting up your location.
- Divide the rental expense by square footage to determine the cost of each square foot. Take into account your sales projections, as this will influence how you position your fixtures and displays to create maximum selling exposure.
- Keep your budget and store image in mind as you set up the interior of your shop. Remember that the entranceway is prime retail space.
- Choose your lighting remembering that it sets your shop’s overall ambiance. Look for economical ways to achieve special lighting effects (i.e. track lighting to highlight any embroidery on display).
- Designate a space for your office. This is where your daily operations will take place.
- Create a meeting area for holding sample presentations of your embroidery work.
- Create specific classifications for any merchandise you are selling. Set up distinct areas featuring this merchandise. For instance, showcase newborn embroidered blankets and accessories on a softly lit table in one area. In another area show off your athletic-inspired embroidered items.
- Establish areas for any special customer promotional events that you may hold. For instance, if you plan on holding classes, set aside a specific location for them and make sure that you have comfortable tables and seating there.
