How to Donate a Phone System
When upgrading the existing phone system in a home or office do not just throw the old phone system away. There are many charitable organizations that would love to have a phone system donated. Before tossing that old phone system into the garbage, consider donating the old phone system to a local charity.
- Make sure that the old phone system is in good condition and is working properly. If the phone system is not working properly and you would like to donate it, you will need to first have it repaired.
- Look up local charities in the area on the Internet by performing an Internet search using the keywords "local charity," along with the name of the city and state where you are located.
- Browse through the websites of the local charities that the search provides to determine what charities are in the local area that are accepting donations.
- Write down the contact phone numbers and names of each charity on a separate sheet of paper.
- Call each charity that you are considering donating the phone system to in order to determine if they are currently accepting donations.
- Decide on a charity that you would like to donate the phone system to and contact them to schedule a pick-up.
- Clean the phone system thoroughly and disinfect it as well to ensure that it is clean when picked up by the representative for the local charity you have chosen to donate to.
- Wait for the representative of the charity in which you are donating the phone system to come to the address that you have provided them with.
- Make sure to get documentation of the donation and value of the phone system so that you can use this donation when filing taxes.
