How to Find Used Auto Parts
Repairing your car on your own instead of using a mechanic can save you a lot of money. Replacing worn out parts with quality used parts can help you save even more. Look in the right places and you can get the savings you need.
Follow one or several of these steps to find used auto parts:
- Visit a local junkyard. Many junkyards allow you to pull parts off of their cars and buy them. If a car has cosmetic damage, it will not effect the transmission and other parts under the hood. You can find a great deal by doing a little hunting at the junkyard.
- Stop by auto part stores and ask if they sell used parts. You can find stores in your area by visiting MerchantCircle and typing "auto part stores" and your ZIP code in the search boxes. Although chains like Auto Zone may not carry used parts, many locally owned shops will.
- Search for used auto parts online. Just type the name of the part and make and model of the car in the text box of a search engine. Several different parts companies should appear. By doing this, you can possibly find dozens of companies that sell the part that you need.
- Check on eBay to see if they have they have any auctions where your part is for sale. You will find several retailers that sell exclusively on eBay. Check the rating of the seller to make sure that they are reputable before you buy.
