How to Find a General Motors Part Number
If you ever need to replace any parts in your General Motors vehicle, you'll need to know the exact part number before you can replace it. For owners of General Motor vehicles, you are able to retrieve replacement parts at your local dealership or if you plan to perform the repair yourself, you can also order the replacement parts yourself.
What You'll Need:
- Computer with access to the Internet
- Open your preferred Internet browser and go to the General Motors Parts Direct website found at www.gmpartsdirect.com. Keep in mind there are many websites that sell replacement parts, but most of them will not list the part number or may only have a limited inventory of the parts you need. GM Parts Direct is an excellent choice because of their large inventory and the ability to search by the specific model and year of your vehicle.
- Once you have navigated to the website, use your mouse to click on the link labeled "Catalog". You should be able to easily locate this under the menu.
- Agree to the terms and conditions statement by using your mouse to click on the text. Doing so will direct you to the websites catalog.
- From the menu, select the year and model of the vehicle that you need the replacement parts for. Then click on the "Search" button. However, if your vehicle was manufactured before 1990, you'll be required to scroll down to the bottom of the "Year" section and select the "Classic Vehicles" option. The new screen will list model year vehicles before 1990.
- From the list on the left-hand side, select the replacement part you are looking for. Once you've found the exact part you're looking for click the "Add to Cart" button just next to the item.
- You are then directed to the cart screen, here you will need to verify the replacement part number against the part number you have listed before you complete your purchase.
