How to Repair a Brother Embroidery Machine

How to Fix Timing Problems With My Brother Embroidery Machine

The timing should be correct in order for the Brother Embroidery sewing machine to produce clean stitches. The machine's parts must function in harmony in order to get the timing right. A jam indicates that the timing is off. Changing the embroidery needle and cleaning the machine should help with issues. If this does not help, then it's time to reset the timing.

  1. Verify
whether the embroidery needle is properly installed backwards, and be
sure to use the correct needle.

  2. Use
a vacuum and brush to clean the sewing machine
and bobbin area of any debris, lint or dirt. Use a cotton swab for
small parts and a clean rag for larger ones.

  3. Reset
the timing of the embroidery hook and needle. Reposition the height
of the embroidery needle bar to assure its at the lowest point of
the stitching process. Use a small screwdriver to loosen the set
screw, but don't completely remove, because it holds the
    embroidery needle bar in place.

  4. Align
the marker line for the embroidery needle used to the lowest point
of the embroidery needle bar. Secure the set screw with a
screwdriver after aligning this marker line. Reference the Brother
Embroidery machine manual for the appropriate marker to use. Start
from the bottom marker on the embroidery needle bar, which should be
the second or third from the bottom. For instance, DA embroidery
needles will use the second marker line from the bottom, while as
the DB embroidery lines will use the third marker line.

  5. Use
a screwdriver to loosen the set screws securing the embroidery
hook in place. Adjust the needle bar in order for the bar
marker to align with the lowest part of the embroidery needle.

  6. Align
the embroidery hook blade with the center of the embroidery needle.
Be sure a clearance of 0.1 mm exists between the embroidery hook and
needle. Secure the three embroidery hook screws with a
    screwdriver.
