How to Get Cable TV on a Computer
If you cannot receive or afford cable TV, you may want to consider using your computer to watch your favorite television shows. A variety of websites allow you to watch your favorite cable programs online. You can search for specific shows by name or watch entire channels.
- Confirm that your computer or laptop is connected to the Internet. To play streaming television shows, you must have high speed Internet, also known as broadband. Broadband Internet is available from many service providers and can be received through you phoneline.
- Visit a website such as Hulu that allows members to watch television shows. Create an account on the website. Browse through the different show categories to find a show that interests you. You can also use the search option to search for shows.
- Click on the name of the television show you want to watch. Choose the season and episode number of the show. A new window will open that displays a video screen.
- Allow the video to fully load, and click on the play button. Adjust the size of the screen and the volume with the buttons available at the bottom of the video screen.
- If there are any other programs or websites open in the background, you may want to close them to avoid music or sounds that might be coming from them while you are trying to watch a video.
- When the show is finished, you can click the "Next" button to watch the next episode. You can also watch a new show by going back to the main menu.
