Tips for Finding Jobs from the Internet

How to Get Jobs from Law Firms

If you want to work in the legal field, you could work in a law firm as a lawyer, paralegal, or receptionist. In order to get jobs from a law firm you should go to school, gain experience and network, search for jobs and apply for a position.

  • Attend college. If your goal is to be hired as an attorney at a legal firm, you need to obtain a bachelors degree and then go to law school. After law school, you must pass the bar before you start practicing law. Paralegals need to attend either an associates or bachelors degree program in paralegal studies. Certification is not necessary to get an entry level job as a paralegal. Most legal firms do not require their receptionists to have a college education.

  • Network and gain experience. While you are attending school, make sure to get as much practical experience as possible. Participate in all activities offered by your program. Also, make sure to network with your fellow students and teachers. You never know who may be able to help you get a job at a law firm when you are qualified.

  • Search for jobs at legal firms. After you finish school search online and in local classified advertisements for jobs in law firms. Also, look to your network for help in finding a job.

  • Apply for jobs. Be persistent and do not get your heart set on one job. Apply to many jobs and give yourself options. Do not just take the first job that is offered to you unless it is what you really want.
