How to Glue In Hair Extensions

Adding hair extensions to your hair is a quick and easy way to change the color and length of your hair. There are several different ways you can add extension, but some people find that the easiest method is to have them glued in. The process is fairly simple and is something that you can do yourself at home.

How to Glue in Hair Extensions

  1. Shampoo your hair with the shampoo of your choice and condition it as normal.

  2. Use a blow dryer to completely dry your hair.

  3. Use a flat iron to straighten the hair.

  4. Use a rattail comb to part a section of hair off in the back of your head. The section should be approximately 2 inches thick.

  5. Use a rubber band or clip to secure the remainder of your hair to the top of your head.

  6. Hold the track of hair up against the part to determine the length of track you will need.

  7. Use the scissors to cut the track in the desired length.

  8. Apply a straight line of weave bond glue on the threads at the top of the track of hair.

  9. Hold the track between your index finger and your thumb and press one side of the track down in the part.

  10. Slowly lay the remainder of the track in the part all the way across the head. The track should not be placed directly on the hair.

  11. Press down on the edges of the track and hold for approximately 30 seconds. This will give the glue time to bond to your head.

  12. Blow dry the glue for approximately 30 seconds on the lowest setting.

  13. Use a flat iron to straighten the section of hair that is now hanging down.

  14. Part off another section of hair and repeat 6 through 12 and continue until the entire head is covered.

  15. Use a wide-tooth comb to blend all the hair together when complete.
