Rosacea is a skin condition that involves burning, sensitivity and reddening of the skin on the face.  It is important to visit the dermatologist for a diagnosis, and to determine what treatment options are available to you.  Treatment options for rosacea skin conditions include medications, lifestyle changes and alternative remedies.

Diagnosis



  1. Know the signs of rosacea, which include burning, sensitivity, flushing and acne outbreaks.

  2. Watch to see if any foods trigger your rosacea to flare up, such as dairy, chocolate or citrus fruits.

  3. Visit a dermatologist to receive a proper diagnosis.


Lifestyle Changes



  1. Avoid making rosacea worse by staying away from excess heat, exposure to sun or extremely cold temperatures.

  2. Avoid alcohol and any hot or spicy foods.

  3. Avoid facial cleaners that contain witch hazel, peppermint, alcohol, eucalyptus oil and menthol.

  6. Keep a spray bottle with distilled water or rose oil on hand to spray on your skin if it becomes overheated.

  7. Take up yoga, tai chi, meditation or a massage classes to lower your stress levels.
