How to Hire Staff for a Coin Laundry

Hiring staff for a coin laundry facility is vital if you plan on operating one. You can get away with having a light staff, but you'll want a couple people to keep the place clean and the machines in good order.

Hiring staff for a coin laundry operation will help keep things running smoothly even when you aren't around. A coin laundry is mostly self-serve, so you may not need staff around the clock. You do need to hire someone to maintain and repair machines, clean up and if you're open later in the evening or overnight someone there to act as security may be a good idea.

  • Find a budget. You need to sit down and figure out how much you can afford to spend every week on help. At the bare minimum you'll need someone to come in and clean the facility and fix any machines that may be damaged. In most cases you can hire someone for just 2-3 hours a day for cleaning, and be on call for maintenance issues.

  • Place an ad. Advertise that you have an available job in a few places. Most local papers will have a low cost or free option to list these ads online and print them in the weekly job section. You can also try to post online at places like Craigslist. If you decide to place the ads online you want to set up an email address just for this, and be prepared to deal with a lot of spam.

  • Conduct interviews. During the interviews you want to find out about prior experience and references. You can also conduct background checks and set up drug testing if you wish. If you choose to do this you must let the applicant know and set it up so that everything is legal.
