How to Increase a Digital Cable Signal
Digital cable is great when the signal is strong. If you have a weak signal it will affect the watching experience. You may end up with channels that don't tune in well or cut out often. There are plenty of things around the house that can interfere with the quality of the signal.
Increasing your digital cable signal isn't that difficult. Instead of dealing with poor quality channels you can do a few simple things to help amplify the signal.
- Look around the room for other electronics. It's not uncommon for other electronics to interfere with the cable signal. You're looking for things like cell phones close to the cable box, routers and microwaves. If you can move these electronics that may help enhance the signal.
- Run your television through a diagnostic program. The television should have this option built in under the menu option. If you can't find this you can look through your owners manual or call tech support to get walked through it. Sometimes just retuning the channels that give you issues will be enough to fix the situation.
- Call the cable company and have a technician come out to look at the problem. They can install amplifiers to increase the signal. Sometimes an indoor amplifier connected right to the line inside is all that's needed. These devices boost the signal going to the television. Another option is to have an amplifier installed on the lines outdoors at the poles or junction boxes. They may also need to install filters to help with outside interference.
