How to Install Bucket Seats in a Chevy Truck

If you own an older model Chevy truck that has bench seats and you want to convert them to bucket seats, all you need to do is find bucket seats at a junk yard and install them in your Chevy truck. With the help of a friend, you can have new bucket seats in no time.

  1. Remove the factory bench seats.Use a ratchet and socket to detach the seats. Have an assistant help you lift them out of the vehicle.
  2. Set the bucket seats in the vehicle. As you bolt the seats to the floor, you will notice that only two of the bolts will line up. You will need to drill more holes in order for the bucket seats to be bolted down completely.
  3. Make marks on the carpet for the additional holes.Mark the location of the seat holes that need to have matching holes using a black marker.
  4. Take the seats back out. Use a razor blade to cut the area of carpet where you made your marks. Continue to cut through the carpet until you reach the bare metal that is underneath.

  5. Make your marks on the metal. Put the bucket seats back into the vehicle and mark the seat holes on the metal this time. Take the seats back out and then drill holes on the marks you made through the metal using metal drill bits.
  6. Mount the bucket seats in the Chevy truck.Put a bolt and washer through each mounting. Make sure that it goes all the way through to the floor. Now, go underneath the truck and place a washer and nut on each of the bolts.
