How to Lay Garage Floor Tiles

Tiles provide a number of benefits on a garage floor. They provide a nice look and are easy to clean up. Tiles are also easy to install on concrete floors and can be done easily in a few days. A tile floor could also add value to you home.

Things You'll Need:

  • Broom

  • Shop Vacuum

  • Pencil

  • Paper

  • Tape Measure

  • Tiles

  • Tile Glue

  • Chalk Line

  • Utility Knife

  1. Remove everything from your garage floor to another storage room. This will cause a clutter for a little while, but will be worth the hassle after everything is finished.

  2. Thoroughly sweep your garage floor with a broom and shop vacuum. The cleaner the floor the easier it will be to lay the tiles on the concrete.

  3. Measure your garage floor and draw a diagram to use as a blueprint.

  4. Take the diagram to a home improvement store to purchase all the supplies. A representative at the store should be able to help you pick the right type of tile and all the other supplies. They will probably have to make a special glue to use when laying the tiles on the floor.

  5. Divide your garage floor into four equal quadrants with a chalk line.

  6. Start laying tiles by placing one in the center of each quadrant. This will make a small square and be your starting point. Lay all the tiles in this order until you start to reach the edge of the floor by the walls or other objects. You'll probably have to cut tiles with a utility knife so they all fit properly.
