How to Maintain Eye Health From Optical Illusions
Optical illusions are fun to look at because they provide movement and depth in an image that is flat. These illusions can sometimes strain the eyes when looking at them for too long and it is important that you reduce this strain when viewing illusions. To reduce this strain look at optical illusions for short periods of time with the computer screen a good distance from your face.
- Look at optical illusions in small sessions so that you do not strain your eyes. Optical illusions can do this quickly and require constant breaks when viewing them. Look away from optical illusions for at least 20 seconds if you have been viewing the illusion for longer than ten minutes.
- Look at optical illusions on a computer screen that is a good distance from your face. This distance should be two feet or more for proper eye health. This will allow eyes to comfortably view illusions because they will not be trying to focus too close on the image.
- Stop looking at optical illusions if your eyes become strained or if they begin to hurt. You should stop looking at them for the day or wait a few hours until you start looking at them again. This will give you eyes time to rest so that you will be able to view the illusions again.
- Use eyes drops for your eyes if they become dry while you are viewing illusions. This will help moisten eyes so they do not hurt or become strained.
- Make sure that you blink normally while looking at optical illusions. If you are staring intently at the optical illusion or if you are concentrating on seeing the trick of the image, you may forget to blink. This can cause eyes to hurt and become dry and this is bad for your vision.
