How to Make Your Own Computer Programs
Creating your own computer program can be quite the challenge. In order to make a successful computer program two skills are required: math skills and creativity. Although the task is a difficult one, it is not impossible. With the right knowledge you will be able to boost your skills, and create something useful.
- Download QB64. This is a modern compiler of BASIC that can run on Windows XP and Vista. BASIC simply means Beginner's All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code and is a programming code designed for beginner programmers.
- Start the "qb64.exe" in your downloaded folder. A window with a blank blue screen should pop up, this is the main screen.
- Type the following:
cls
print "Hello, World!"
end
The first line stands for "Clear Screen" which means that your program will start out each time with a blank screen.
The second line features one of the most simple commands in BASIC; the print command. It displays "Hello, World" on the empty screen.
The third line, "end", ends the program. - Press F5 on your keyboard. Your program should run as described above.
- Save your simple program by going to File and then Save. You have just created your first computer program.
- Learn the BASIC language to write more complicated programs.
- Practice as much as possible. To create more complex programs, practice is a requirement. Pay close attention to variables and loops.
- Learn more programming languages. The most common is C or its successor, C++. Other popular programming languages include Java, Perl, Ruby, and Visual BASIC.
