How to Scan Documents to Toshiba Laptops
The popularity of the USB port has made document scanning a breeze. By just plugging in your scanning device, you can make high-resolution scans of important documents. By following a few simple steps, scanning documents to your Toshiba laptop can be just as easy.
- Choose the document that you would like to scan. Also, find the scanner and your USB cord that will connect the scanner to the Toshiba laptop.
- Connect the USB cord to the scanner and then to the laptop. Many scanners will draw their power from the laptop, but if yours does not, then plug it into the wall as well.
- When you plug the scanner to the laptop, the laptop should immediately recognize the new hardware. This is called plug-and-play. Allow Windows to install the scanner. If Windows does not recognize the scanner, you may have to manually install it using an installation CD. Check your scanner's manual for further installation instructions.
- Most scanners will come with their own proprietary software which will help you scan documents and pictures. This software often gives you other special features like cropping and red eye removal. Follow the manufacturers instructions to scan using this software.
- You can also scan using Windows Photo Gallery. Open Windows Photo Gallery and click the word "file" at the top of the screen. When the menu drops down, choose "Import from Camera or Scanner". Continue to follow the prompts until your document is scanned. Windows Photo Gallery will also store the documents for you, making them easier to retrieve in the future.
