Dog pens can get to be expensive. This is why you should learn how to make your own when you are on a budget but still need a place for your dog to stay.
What You’ll Need:
- Gate
- Tape Measure
- Chain Link Fencing
- Door Hinges
- Wooden Stakes
- Wire Cutters
- Hinge Assembly
- Wooden Fence Posts (6)
- Wood Screws
- Screw Gun
- Chicken Wire
- Decide where the dog pen will be and measure the area and mark it. Consider your dog’s size as well as the time it will be in the crate when deciding on the size of the pen.
- Dig two foot deep holes that are about three inches wide and long. Dig six total holes. Pour and mix cement into the holes and follow the directions carefully. Install the posts while the cement is still wet.
- Stretch chicken wire across the area of the dog pen. Put bricks on it to hold it in place. Cut your chain link fence until it is the necessary length for the dog pen. You should leave about eight inches extra. Tie the fence onto the posts with your pliers. Leave a gate opening as you go.
- Screw in the hinge assemblies, ensuring they match the gate. Use your screw gun to get them in place. Hang the gate onto the hinges. You can then affix the gate’s latch to the gatepost attachment. Add shade on the pen by laying tarp over it, tie it to the gate to ensure it does not blow away.
