How to Make a Meat and Cheese Tray
A meat and cheese tray is a popular appetizer that usually goes over well with any crowd. Who doesn’t like meat and cheese? This tasty, yet simple appetizer is a quick and easy solution for any get together that you may need to prepare at the last minute. Send it as a school snack, for a football game, a family gathering or even a church function. It is a quick and economical choice that goes over well with all crowds.
- Shop for the ingredients that you prefer to have on your meat and cheese tray. Be creative and choose unique choices for your meats and cheeses. You will need a couple of kinds of meats and cheeses. The most common choices are salami, pepperoni, ham or turkey. You will want to buy thick slices of deli meat so they can be cubed.
- Cut your deli meat on a cutting board using a sharp knife. If you choose a meat such as pepperoni or summer sausage, you will want to remove the wrapper and cut the meat into quarter inch wide slices; continue until the required amount is cut and then store the remainder in a baggie so that it does not go bad in your refrigerator.
- Arrange the meat in a circular motion around half of your tray. You should divide the different kids of meat by section. The amount of space used per meat will vary depending on how many different meats are being used.
- Remove the wrapper from your bricks of cheese and discard of the wrapper. Use a cutting board and cut the cheese into quarter-inch sections on a cutting board, using a sharp knife.
- Arrange the now cubed cheese on the other half of you tray so that the outside of the perimeter of your tray is entirely filled with meats and cheeses, leaving the center open for the crackers.
- Open up your box of crackers and remove the required amount from the box. Neatly arrange the crackers in the center of the tray. You do not want to open up more than you need because crackers tend to go stale fast. If you are taking your tray to-go, you could just bring a couple of the packs with you and put them on the tray when you get where you are going.
